MY INSIGHTS

“When you look at the numbers, the picture is surprising. Globally, an estimated 560 million people are exposed to tropical cyclones each year, yet only about 15,500 lives are lost. Although we value and view every life as valuable the chances of life being lost as a result of a storm is unlikely. That means roughly 3 deaths per every 100,000 people exposed—a mere 0.0028%. In other words, while storms touch nearly every part of the world, the likelihood of being destroyed by one is astonishingly small. The statistics remind us of a deeper

“truth: storms are far more likely to affect you than to end you. And if the storms that sweep across our world rarely come to kill us, then we must ask a greater question—why do they come at all?  What is their purpose?”
